Life In Music

Kieran Ellis began playing guitar at the age of 14 and has devoted his time thus far solely to honing his craft. Growing up he consumed many musical greats that fed into his playing like Jimi Hendrix or John Frusciante. Whilst in sixth form, Kieran took music on as a level 3 qualification and came out of it with a Distinction star overall! 

After finishing sixth form, Kieran moved onto University to study at the Academy of contemporary music. Whilst studying there, he was taught by the likes of Sandy Beales (One direction, JP cooper), Nic Meier (Jeff Beck) and Jamie West-Oram (The Fixx, Brian Eno, David Bowie), to name a few. Whilst still in University, he landed his first scoring gig for a documentary called “Print” which further fed into his passion of film scoring. He left university with a 2:1 in musical performance!

After Kieran left University, he fell easily into the film industry. Working with Delanie Forbes of EastEnders fame on her debut film initially, he has scored films ranging from emotional dramas to nature-based, drone shot films in Australia. His biggest strength has proved to be his ability to collaborate with others. Due to the scope of people he works with, direct, face to face communication is sometimes very difficult. Because of this, Kieran has strived to be the best teamplayer he can possibly be. His biggest achievement was collaborating with David Moore in Australia with no phone calls or face to face meetings. Only through email.

Kieran also works with and has had his music published with different MCPS music libraries in the UK. Namely: Lift Music, Boost Music, Motus Music and BriteBeat,

Kieran is influenced by a great number of composers such as Olafur Arnalds, Hans Zimmer, Johann Johannsson, Colin Stetson, Benjamin Wallfisch and Sarah Schachner. He is also influenced by many bands such as Radiohead, Grizzly Bear, Tame Impala, Massive Attack, Sigur Ros and Deftones.
